Photography Volunteer

All animals have their photos taken once at the shelter and are posted to our website for adoptions and owners looking for lost animals. Photographers take photos of animals both inside and outside of the shelter.

    Photography Volunteers:
  • must own and be able to use a digital camera
  • need to have basic photography experience, and be able to produce quality photos that appeal to potential adopters
  • need to be able to commit to (a) specific day(s) and time(s) each week. Photos are usually taken during mornings or early afternoons.
  • need to be able to work with both dogs and cats.

Training Process:

Interested volunteers will meet with Volunteer Coordinator to ensure that position is a good fit, and will then work with Coordinator to sign up for specific weekly shift. Photo Volunteers will then go through an hour long training process on how to use the Chameleon database for this position.

Why be a Photo Volunteer?

Great photos increase adoptions! Our photos load directly onto many different pet adoption websites, and the better the photos, the more adopters we have! Some animals even have their photos posted on Comcast in the On Demand section, which shows the public that shelter animals are adorable, friendly, and fun. Plus, it’s a great chance to build a portfolio for those pursuing this career.
